Ideally located in the residential area known by the locals as Raglan West, you will have the option of enjoying the buzzing township, just a short walk in one direction or the famous left hand break, a quick drive in the other. Leaving you with the peace and quiet for a good nights sleep, the best of both worlds.
From the world-famous left-hand surf break at Manu Bay, to the mystical black sand at Ngarunui, our favourite spot for a long beach walk or a beginner surfer to hit the waves, back in to Te Kopua, the calm waters of the estuary are perfect for the kids to swim, or maybe even try out a bridge jump…
The beaches come with a range of activities on their own, from surfing, to paddle boarding & kayaking, or maybe a harbour cruise.
Take a walk to see some of the best views in Raglan. There is Bryant Memorial walk down to Ngarunui Beach, or take a drive out to Te Toto gorge where you will find stunning panoramic views of the Tasman Sea, at this point you could also start your trek up Mount Karioi, Raglan’s Sleeping Lady.
There is also Waireinga/Bridal Veil Falls, a short easy walk to the top of the 55-metre falls, glance down to the base of the waterfall and you will see the natural amphitheatre created by years of water wearing away the soft sandstone rocks.
Some of the best art in New Zealand comes straight out of Raglan, you could spend your day discovering the many artists and galleries around the town. From photographers, potters, painters, poets and many other forms, all inspired by the natural surroundings of Raglan and afar.
